Golf Simulator Videos Reviews the FlightScope Mevo Gen2: “Solid Results Across the Board”

Jay Lasco of Golf Simulator Videos recently reviewed the new FlightScope Mevo Gen2. Having owned the original Mevo, Lasco was able to benchmark the Mevo Gen2 against previous models and high-end competitors alike.

“This is in a whole different league from the original Mevo – you’re getting so much more technology here,” said Lasco. “I've benchmarked it against top-end camera units already. I don't want to demonstrate it that way for you guys, but the numbers are close. I'll just say that.”

Lasco highlighted the accuracy, portability, and versatility of the unit as standout features, noting the device’s intuitive setup and robust data capture make it suitable for both casual golfers and serious players.

Below, we break down his review into the key takeaways:

Design and Portability

One of the first things Lasco noticed was the new, taller form factor:

“I think they have a better view of the golf ball having the camera up higher,” he said.

The unit’s lightweight, thin design combined with a built-in kickstand made setup simple:

“It’s just one less thing to worry about – you pop the kickstand out and it’s set right,” said Lasco. He also described the carry case as “fantastic” – “It just slides right into your golf bag.”

Additional design features impressed him:

  • QR code setup for fast Wi-Fi connection to the unit: “You scan it and you’re connected, super easy.”
  • USB-C charging port with a 6-hour battery life: “You can get a full session in without worrying about it dying on you.”
  • LED indicators to show radar status at a glance: “I like being able to glance back and see exactly what it’s doing.”

Accuracy and Tracking Performance

Lasco tested the Mevo Gen2 both indoors and outdoors, noting that FlightScope’s patented Fusion Tracking Technology, which combines radar and camera, provides highly accurate and reliable results through the bag.

One feature he immediately appreciated was the generous hitting zone:

“You don’t need some specific hitting area. It’s plenty big for most people,” said Lasco.

When it came to the driver, Lasco was particularly impressed with how the unit handled both solid strikes and mishits:

“The results overall are what I’d like to see. I like seeing my driver misses. I don’t want a driver miss for me to get away with,” he said. “It’s picking the high-spin miss up and showing me exactly what happened.”

Lasco confirmed the Mevo Gen2 had no trouble tracking his drives, even with the unit set up at 7 feet – closer than the recommended 8 feet behind the ball:

“You saw my really good ball speed, 165 mph. It’s reading those just fine. Even with my setup slightly off from recommended distances, the results have been really solid,” he said.

Lasco then put the unit through its paces with wedges, irons, chips, and putts, frequently comparing the numbers to his expectations and to those from high-end systems:

“Two really good wedge results right out of the gate – 8,000 RPM spin, 9,000 when I cut it. A really good cut shot – everything’s showing exactly what I expect from the shot,” he said.
“The spin numbers jumped up depending on how I cut the ball – very solid readings for all types of shots. Even when I hit a little fat or push a shot, the Mevo Gen2 still gives reliable data.”

For the short game, Lasco noted strong performance with chips and pitches:

“It’s picking up chips and short pitches really well – even down to 20 yards. That’s a big plus for short game practice,” he said. “I pretty much have nailed every type of chip on this unit. It’s vital that you’re able to launch the ball at 40 degrees and generate spin – the unit picks all that up.”

Finally, he praised the putting capabilities:

“From what I’ve seen so far… the putting is solid based on my testing,” said Lasco. “It’s reading horizontal launch angle very precisely – even a tiny push is picked up. You don’t want to be hitting almost a degree off on your start line and not know it – Mevo Gen2 picks it up.”

He also tried hitting softer putts, which many personal launch monitors tend to struggle with – particularly indoors:

“I’m barely hitting the ball, 2.5 mph ball speed, and it’s still picking it up perfectly.”

Data Parameters Provided

The Mevo Gen2 captures 18 data parameters, including:

  • Carry Distance
  • Roll Distance
  • Total Distance
  • Ball Speed
  • Club Speed
  • Smash Factor
  • Vertical Launch Angle
  • Horizontal Launch Angle
  • Spin Rate
  • Spin Axis
  • Apex Height
  • Flight Time
  • Lateral Landing
  • Angle of Attack
  • Shot Type
  • Launch Speed (Putting)
  • Total Distance (Putting)
  • Ball Direction (Putting)

“You’re getting club speed, launch angle, spin, everything – even for wedges and short pitches,” said Lasco.

Simulator Compatibility

Mevo Gen2 includes lifetime access to an E6 Connect simulation bundle (iOS and PC) featuring eight world-class courses:

  • Kiawah Island – Ocean Course (SC, USA)
  • Kapalua – Plantation Course (HI, USA)

Unlike many other launch monitors and simulators that lock key features behind paywalls, Mevo Gen2 offers permanent simulation access, making it an ideal and cost-effective solution for indoor golf and home entertainment.

Lasco tested the Mevo Gen2 with GS Pro, but noted its wide compatibility with other simulator software options, including E6 Connect, Awesome Golf and Creative Golf.

“For the price point, to be able to integrate with all of these simulation options… that’s really nice to see,” he said.

FS Golf App Experience

Central to the Mevo Gen2 experience is the FS Golf App, available for free on iOS, Android, and Windows PC.

“The app is intuitive, easy to navigate, and it gives you everything you want to see right after the shot,” said Lasco.

Standout app features include:

  • Practice Session Variety: Launch full swing, chipping, putting, swing training, and listener mode sessions – plus Challenges like Long Drive and PGA Challenge — with session reviews available anytime.
  • FlightScope AR Tracer: Automatic video recording with full shot tracer and data overlay.
  • Apple Watch Integration: View up to six selected data parameters in real time on your Apple Watch.
  • Flexible Data Visualization: Toggle light/dark modes, trajectory views, 2D spin axis animations, and grouping displays.
  • Integrated Video Analysis: Overlay swing videos (recorded on your device or the Mevo’s internal camera) with tracked data and annotate with built-in drawing tools.
  • Custom Club & Trajectory View: Choose from 28 club colors, with on-screen trajectory lines adjusting based on the selected club for clear visual feedback.
  • Swing Training Tools: Track club head speed without hitting a ball — compatible with systems like TheStack and SuperSpeed Golf.
  • Compatible with All Golf Ball Types: Use standard, range, or reflective radar capture (RCT) balls for accurate indoor spin capture.

Value For Money

Priced at £1,099 with no annual subscription fees, Lasco praised the Mevo Gen2’s offering:

“You’re getting a lot for your money here. Accuracy, simulation, portability – it checks all the boxes,” he said. “If you’re looking for something portable, accurate, and versatile, the Mevo Gen2 should definitely be on your list.”

Final Verdict

“Everything I’ve seen from accuracy to ease of use – it’s all been very positive so far,” said Lasco. “It’s lightweight, portable, and just a very simple unit to use.”

“For just getting my hands on this unit and going through all of the different paces, everything I've seen so far, and I've even benchmarked it against some high-end units. I really like what I see.”
