GolfBusters Reviews the FlightScope Mevo Gen2: “The Best Value Golf Simulator Experience”
Jock Buffton from GolfBusters recently reviewed the FlightScope Mevo Gen2, and he didn’t hold back his praise. Right from the start, Buffton called it “the best overall golf simulator experience you can have at this price point.”
At £1,099 with no subscription fees, Buffton said the Mevo Gen2 delivers what other “budget” devices can’t: “You could buy this device and be playing golf on a simulator, getting your readings outdoors at your driving range, and never have to spend a dime after that.”
“I don’t think you’re going to be able to find a more accurate, more reliable launch monitor and golf simulator for this price point,” he said.
No Hidden Costs
One of the first things Buffton highlighted was the importance of no ongoing fees.
“A lot of these devices under $1,000 actually have subscription fees that are $100, $200, almost $300. Not with the Mevo Gen2. That’s why I wanted to bring up that price point right away.”
He also noted that the Mevo Gen2 includes lifetime ownership of an 8 course bundle on E6 Connect for iOS and PC – something which requires an added subscription with other products:
“Every other product, you have to pay some subscription fee to get access to courses. Not with the Mevo Gen2.”

Mevo Gen2 includes lifetime access to an E6 Connect simulation bundle (iOS and PC) featuring eight world-class courses:

“You can have an iPhone, an iPad, a PC – right out of the box, you can utilize this device to play simulator courses.”
Unlike many other launch monitors and simulators that lock key features behind paywalls, Mevo Gen2 offers permanent simulation access, making it an ideal and cost-effective solution for indoor golf and home entertainment.
Buffton also highlighted the Mevo Gen2’s 6 hour battery life as “a big plus” for playing simulation golf:
“Once you charge it, you generally will have a whole night where you can power on the device and not have to worry about power," he said.
FS Golf App Experience
Central to the Mevo Gen2 experience is the FS Golf App, available for free on iOS, Android, and Windows PC.
“The FS Golf app is insanely detailed. It allows you to integrate the camera, pause your swing, draw lines on it for teaching – it’s the most detailed software to get the most out of your swing," said Buffton.
Standout app features include:
-
Practice Session Variety: Launch full swing, chipping, putting, swing training, and listener mode sessions – plus Challenges like Long Drive and PGA Challenge — with session reviews available anytime.
-
FlightScope AR Tracer: Automatic video recording with full shot tracer and data overlay.
-
Apple Watch Integration: View up to six selected data parameters in real time on your Apple Watch.
-
Flexible Data Visualization: Toggle light/dark modes, trajectory views, 2D spin axis animations, and grouping displays.
-
Integrated Video Analysis: Overlay swing videos (recorded on your device or the Mevo’s internal camera) with tracked data and annotate with built-in drawing tools.
-
Custom Club and Trajectory View: Choose from 28 club colors, with on-screen trajectory lines adjusting based on the selected club for clear visual feedback.
-
Swing Training Tools: Track club head speed without hitting a ball — compatible with systems like TheStack and SuperSpeed Golf.
-
Compatible with All Golf Ball Types: Use standard, range, or reflective radar capture (RCT) balls for accurate indoor spin capture.
Accuracy and Reliability
Buffton was quick to emphasize that the accuracy of the Mevo Gen2 matches his expectations from higher-end FlightScope devices.
“From our initial testing, the ball data accuracy does seem to be as good as the Mevo+. And in some cases, it reads stuff better like the short chips and putts.”
During on-course simulator play, the numbers lined up perfectly:
“I think all those numbers, honestly, they all look really good. Ball speed and club speed are 100% spot on. That spin number looks pretty normal. Carry was exactly what I expected.”
Perhaps most importantly, he noted FlightScope’s consistency compared to competitors:
“We’ve gone over 2,000 shots at times without any misreads or no reads. Other budget launch monitors may promise a lot, but in practice they get so frustrating you end up returning the device. That’s never been an issue with FlightScope.”
Short Game Improvements
One standout feature for Buffton was how much better the Mevo Gen2 handled short chips compared to other devices:
“Because of the Mevo Gen2’s higher camera, it picks up the chipping readings better. We were able to, without any extra fiddling around, just set the device up like normal and get all our short chips to read – which is awesome.”
He also tested the device under 25 yards, where other models struggled:
“On the Mevo Gen2, it picked up on the first shot. That’s a big improvement.”
Final Verdict
Buffton summed up his first look with glowing praise:
“I don’t think you’re going to be able to find a more accurate, more reliable launch monitor and golf simulator for this price point,” he said. “As they say in the NFL, the best ability is availability. And the Mevo Gen2 is like that Pro Bowl player who plays every single game all year and never gets injured.”
“We’ve had $12,000–$15,000 launch monitors in here. If you’re higher than a five handicap, you probably won’t be able to tell the difference compared to this Mevo Gen2. The experience is that good.”
